Vega Records is proud to present the “Vega Family Christmas Collection”, a full length release of Christmas songs, both originals and remakes. Louie Vega has always dreamt of having an album to celebrate the holidays yearly amongst family and friends, and that dream has come to fruition. “The Magic Of Christmas” an original, with Lyrics by Josh Milan, music by Louie Vega & Axel Tosca, this bouncing groove will make you jing-a-ling-ling til you can’t no more. Upright bass by a master John Benitez, percussion by Luisito Quintero, and lead vocals by Tawatha Agee and Cindy Mizelle, two genius vocalists who also arranged the backgrounds on the song.

Seasoned songwriter Toni C. who also wrote songs “Love Will Save The Day” for Whitney Houston and “Love’s Gonna Get You / I’ve Got The Power” for Jocelyn Brown, took it home with the original Christmas song “Christmas Kisses”. On upright bass, John Benitez, percussion and drums, Luisito Quintero, and on piano and keyboards Junito Davila. Singing lead is the incomparable Cindy Mizelle and stunning background performances by Fonzi Thornton, Tawatha Agee & Cindy Mizelle who will have you finger snapping while they rock ad-libs flowing through the vamp runs. “All I want for Christmas, are Christmas Kisses”, you’ll be singing this hook while opening your gifts.

“This Christmas”, a Donnie Hathaway classic. Louie Vega reaches out to the full on family for this one. Guest Vocalists Kenny Bobien, Cindy Mizelle, Sara Devine, Anané Vega, and spoken word by Nico Vega (recorded when he was 7 years old). Axel Tosca on Fender Rhodes and keyboards, Gene Perez on Bass, and Luisito Quintero on percussion. A Donnie Hathaway staple song brought to the dance clubs via a full on house music interpretation. Good times in the studio, bringing together this all star cast of singers and musicians, everyone gave a performance truly from the heart.



“Christmas In New York”, Louie Vega reaches out to Toni C. for another Christmas gem. “I’ve always wanted to have an original song that speaks of New York City during Christmas Holidays, the city streets, and everything else it encompasses during the days heading up to Christmas.” Toni C. takes on the job with ease, bringing her acoustic guitar to the studio and starts singing away. The song comes together in two days and we call on Cindy Mizelle to record the lead vocal. The track’s backbeat is played by drummer Jerard Snell and pays homage to one of my favorite bands “Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band” and Gene Perez just fits right in perfectly with his bassline. Axel Tosca on the piano and keyboards, as well playing a clarinet synth sound reminiscing the 1940’s big band feel. In no time you’ll be singing “Christmas In New York” and thinking about the New York City vibes!



“Christmas Time Is Here”, The Charlie Brown holiday jam was always one we heard growing up on television every year while watching the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. This song has lived through so many generations, over 55 years. I always thought is was a cool jazzy, funky tune and loved the children sound on the vocals. I immediately thought of Josh Milan and Cindy Mizelle to sing the leads giving it a twist and so, they crafted the vocals to perfection even creating another vamp with repeating hooks. The Elements Of Life Band, Gene Perez on bass, Axel Tosca on keyboards, and Dominic James on electric guitar all played their parts with ease.



“Merry Christmas Baby / Let’s Make Christmas Mean Something This Year” written by Lou Baxter and Johnny Moore, and the latter title by J. Brown and N. Jones were performed by greats Ray Charles and James Brown. This new rendition is a combination of the two Christmas songs with lead vocals and backgrounds by Josh Milan and Cindy Mizelle. House music Christmas jams are not easy to come by but here you have one that will have floors jumpin’.
