When did you begin DJ'ing and what made you start?
I started playing around and mixing music in the late 80’s. The first rave I played at was in 1991 ‘evolution’ in Zodiac Dance Studios along with DJ Randell.
At this event it was the moment that I realised I wanted to become a DJ. 1994 was the year that I became a professional DJ and in the November I got my job at ‘Rhythm Division’ a record shop in Bow.
What would you say influenced you towards House Music?
I've always been into house music, as early as 1987. Acid house sound and the summer of love was the pinnacle moment of my generation. It was the beginning of what we know as ‘house music’ in the uk, I call it the BLUEPRINT.
Of the many genres of House, which are your favourite?
Soulful, Deep, Uplifting, rolling house. I like to just call my sound ‘Underground House and Garage’
Which artists, producers and tracks stand out for you, both now and from the past?
Blaze, CeCe Rogers, Michael Owen, Nightwriters, Byron Stingly, Donell Rush and Michael Watford.
There are so many artists and music makers to name, even with new artists such as Ross Couch, Atjazz and Doctor House.
Name some highlights or a profound moment in your time as a DJ
I've been very fortunate as a DJ, I’ve played in several countries , held residence at smooth Ministry of Sound for four years, played for MTV, DJ'ed at the Millennium Dome in front of thousands people on NYE 2001, played at Hollands largest music festival ‘Dance Valley’, I've played at Strictly Rhythms 10th anniversary in Koln which led to a residency there in Germany. However, I haven’t played in IBIZA which is a future goal.
Have you done any production? If not, is it something you aim to do?
Again, I'm very fortunate that I''ve had my own label and co-produced with artists such as MJ Cole, Mark Yardley (Stanton Warriors) and many others. I've made tracks in the 90s which some class as ‘classic’ tunes; which makes me very proud. Even to having a UK national number one track in 2004. I will not disclose the title or track. This was another proud moment in my music career. To date I’m working on some tracks just for pleasure, nothing to serious.
Going on from that, what are your musical plans for the future?
Enjoying and establishing my shows right here on housefm.net and being able to express my sound, which I've always believed in. Also to get that play in Ibiza.
