When did you begin DJ'ing and what made you start?
I Got into djing after getting into the Acid House/Warehouse Scene back in 1989. I didn’t actually start djing until 1990.
I got my big break on pirate radio in 1993, the rest as they say is history..
What would you say influenced you towards House music?
My main influence was my older brother Marcel, he got me into House Music , he also took me to the clubs/warehouse parties.
I was also influence by dj’s such as : Kid Batcelor, Mr C , Eddie Richards, Emix, Paul Oakenfold, Trevor Fung, Rhythm Doctor
To name a few.
Of the many genres of House, which are your favourite?
My favourite genre of house music would be Soulful House, however , I do love my deep and tribal/afro house also, but Soulful House is my thing.
Which artists, producers and tracks stand out for you, both now and from the past?
Stand out artists/producers/tracks from the past our : Fingers Inc, Lil Louis, Bobby Konders, Reghi Burrell, MAW, Mood II Swing , Basement Boys, Kerri Chandler, Favourite Tracks from the past.. I've got toooo many favourites from past but hers's some that spring to mind : “Shalor – Im In Love” Fingers Inc - " Another Side LP" , "Desire" (Maw Mix) Nu Colors, Kerri Chandler - "Atmosphere EP", Lil Louis - "French Kiss", and many more.
Stand out aritist/producers/tracks from the present , Atjazz, Rhemi, Josh Milan, Lilac Jeans, Soulful Sessions, Sean McCabe, Souldynamics, Peven Everett, also vocalist Sabrina Chylds and Shelia Campbell. The tracks, again too many choose from but here's are some of my fav's "I Miss You" (Atjazz Mix) , "From Now On" - Josh Milan, "Piece Of Heaven" (Sean Mcabe Mix) - Fuminori Kagajo, "Black Boy" (Souldynamics Mix) Peven Everett, "Run Away" (Original Mix) - Shelia Campbell.
Name some highlights or a profound moment in your time as a DJ
My highlights would be in having the pleasure in djing at sooo many great parties/events over the years, its been a truly amazing journey, with a lot of great memories, and long may it continue My other highlights would be playing alongside some of my dj hero’s dj like : Phil Asher, Ricky Morrison, Paul Trouble, Kid Batchelor, Emix, Femi B, Rob Acteson, Rhythm Doctor to name a few, its been an absolute pleasure to be on the same line up as these guys meantioned, these are the djs I grew up listening to, and who inspired me to become a DJ.
Have you done any production? If not, is it something you aim to do?
I have produced quite a few tracks in the past, one being a Alica Keys tracks Called “ Girlfriend” which was a unofficial remix,
Going on from that, what are your musical plans for the future?
My future plans would be to get back into producing that’s one of my main priorites for 2014, continue with my radio show on House FM.net and well as promoting my “Gotta Have House” and House 4 All” club events. I got soooooooo many plans and ideas for 2014....Watch This Space.!!
