Lee Coffey would define himself as a true house Soulja, chasing beats since back in the day and starting out at the original import record shop, Bluebird Records. His DJ career started around the same time, playing out for the likes of Desire, Elevation, Moondance and then moving into clubland and the Astoria, Cafe de Paris, Hippodrome, WAG, Club UK, and Ministry of Sound, to name but a few. After a couple of years, he was offered a job at the now legendary Blackmarket Records, where he spent the next 12 years, supplying records to the world’s DJ fraternity and where he also started his A&R journey, contributing to numerous house record labels, including Azuli, Defected, Ultra Vinyl, FFRR, Sony, Island, Soulfuric, Nervous and Strictly Rhythm. With DJ residences in Russia, India, Ibiza and London, Lee was living the dream but always returned to his Blackmarket home in Soho.
Lee’s relationship with House FM runs for over 20 years, having been a regular DJ on the original station, “The London Underground” on a Friday night. After a guest slot on NYE 2019, Lee is back on the station with his brand new Friday morning show, ‘House by the Sea’, broadcasting direct from just outside Newquay, Cornwall, bringing you an eclectic mix of the best in soul, funk, rare groove, soulful house and disco.
