When did you begin DJ'ing and what made you start?
After buying my first piece of vinyl as an 11 year old, at the age of 14 I discovered the joys of the 12" and I was hooked! My local youth club happened to have access to a twin turntable unit so of course I volunteered my services, spinning the current soul tunes of the time at the youth club discos.
What would you say influenced you towards House music?
When I first started DJing I would play Soul, Funk and Hip - Hop.... and then it happened.... BAM! .... House music came along and life would never be the same again!!
Of the many genres of House, which are your favourite?
Soulful House, without a doubt.
Which artists, producers and tracks stand out for you, both now and from the past?
Currently Sean McCabe and Andre Lodemann are consistently good. Some of my all time favourites include MAW, Kerri Chandler, Mr. Fingers (Larry Heard) and Blaze.
Name some highlights or a profound moment in your time as a DJ
I co - ran a very intimate (but very memorable to those who attended) club night in London called "Mystique" for a couple of years in the late 90s. We stumbled upon a unique venue, so combine that with good people and great music and it made for some very special nights.
Have you done any production? If not, is it something you aim to do?
No productions to date. I have considered it - if I could find the time I would give it a go!
Going on from that, what are your musical plans for the future?
Building a solid following from my show so it may lead to more paid gigs. Although I am not in it for the money (if that was the case I would have quit long ago!), I feel that I have been doing this well enough for long enough and invested a lot of time, effort, dedication and love to a least get a little something in return! Other than that, just keep providing you all with plenty of soulful goodness...
