When did you begin DJ'ing what made you start?
I first began listening to and collecting vinyl at the age of 9 years old, buying from my local Woolworths on a Saturday and continued up until my teens where I found myself drawn to house and hardcore in 88/89. That's when I purchased 2 beltdrive Soundlab decks and from then I was hooked...
What would you say influenced you towards House music?
I started out with friends attending raves like World Dance, Fantasia etc, then onto Lazerdrome but always found myself drawn to the house rooms which turned me I guess. I spent many nights at Garage City, "Bar rumba", Satellite Club and Linford Studios. It was here I fell in love with deep n soulful house music.
Of the many genres of House which are your favourite?
Deep House, Afro House but Soulful is where my heart lies if I'm honest...
Top of the bunch are Masters at Work, Louie Vega, Kerri Chandler, Larry Levan, Joey Nego, Naked Music etc.....So many favourite tracks past n present but I would say MAW "Nervous track" and Thelma Houston "All Of That" really make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up lol....Basically, any release by Louie Vega is pure gold dust...
Name some highlights or profound moment in your time as a DJ
Playing a Soulful House set on a rooftop in Miami, and playing in Prague were great nights... Also, coming 2nd in Soulful House competition which had over 500 entries was a great feeling. I also played on the same line up as Sean McCabe at For The Love of House and was a great buzz. Playing on housefm.net is a dream come true...
Have you done any production? If not is it something you aim to do?
I plan to hopefully release my first soulful house track by summer 2018..Watch this space...
Going on from that, what are your musical plans for the future?
As long as the future is positive thats the main thing for me, but right now I aim to establish myself to the next level using what I've learned from friends and fellow DJs over the years with the mighty housefm being a great platform to do it from...House music forever lets do this.....Xx
